Jackson Pratt Drain - Search for term

Jackson Pratt Drain - Also called JP. A Jackson-Pratt drain is inserted into the incision site after some surgeries (e.g. total mastectomy or axillary lymph node removal surgery). It works to remove fluid from the area around your incision. Your treatment team will discuss with you how to care for your drain, how long you will have it, and what to do with it once you are home.
