Lymph Channels - Search for term

Lymph Channels - A complex network of tubes in your body which carry lymph fluid to and from the lymph nodes, where it is filtered. These channels run throughout your body, including your breast.


Lymph Nodes - Search for term

Lymph Nodes - Are small, bean-shaped masses that act as filters to remove anything that does not belong in your body, such as bacteria, viruses, dead cells, debris, and cancer cells. They are part of the lymphatic system of your body.

Liver ultrasound - This is a special test which uses sound waves to create a picture of your liver and the area around it.

Lobular Breast Cancer - A common type of breast cancer that starts growing in the milk glands of the breast.


Lymphedema - Search for term

Lymphedema - Underarm swelling that can result from axillary lymph node removal surgery. It is not dangerous but can come and go. It can be improved by treatment, but has no cure. Lymphedema can occur in 1 out of 7 (or 15% of) people who have an axillary lymph node removal surgery.

Lymphatic system - Is made up of lymph channels, lymph fluid, and lymph nodes. This network is spread throughout your body and works to remove anything that does not belong, such as bacteria, viruses, dead cells, debris, and cancer cells.


Lymph node removal - Search for term

Lymph node removal - This procedure is usually done at the same time as your partial or total mastectomy surgery. It is done so that your doctor can learn more about the cancer and know if it has spread to your lymph nodes. It also helps your doctor decide whether you need chemotherapy.
